If You Mustache

It's that time of year again - turkey, stuffing and mustaches?

In recent years, the trend of growing a mustache during November isn't just a fashion statement - it's also a social one - it's helping to change the "face" of men's health.

As you may know by the men around you, they don't tend to go to the doctor much and can generally be curmudgeonly when it comes to talking about their health and well being, which is why it's all the more important to get them to go to the doctor. Movember is meant to raise awareness about Prostate Cancer, Testicular Cancer and Mental Health for men.

Fortunately, a fun way to raise awareness has emerged through facial hair. And thanks to the trend of fancy facial hair, even those who can't grow a mustache can wear one, making a fashion statement and giving back.

If you don't want to grow one or can't don a mustach, a wearable version is a great alternative way to help support Movember. Wear it on a t-shirt, a tote or even on your pup and raise funds for the important men in your life (and make sure they go get a check-up!).

We've created and INKspiration Pinterest board dedicated to Movember to provide you with a few Mustachioed ideas for t-shirt designs. Take a look and get started!

One last thing! Don't have time to design and sell your own t-shirt but still want to contribute? We've designed our own Movember t-shirts. For every t-shirt you buy from our Movember line, we'll donate 1/3 of the price of that shirt to the Movember Foundation. The limited edition t-shirt is only available during November. November 2014 Giving Back: Patriot PAWS

Ink to the People Gives back each month. In November, we're giving back to Patriot PAWS - a service dog organization.

Patriot PAWS trains and provides service dogs of the highest quality, at no cost, to disabled American veterans and others with mobile disabilities in order to help restore their physical and emotional independence.

Patriot PAWS trains service dogs to perform various behaviors including help for patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They set out to increase a person's self-sufficiency. Services performed by each dog depend on the needs of the owner. Some of the services provided to assist disabled veterans in accomplishing daily tasks that would otherwise be difficult or impossible, include:

  • Getting help in emergencies
  • Recognizing and averting PTSD episodes
  • Picking up and retrieving items
  • Opening and closing doors
  • Pulling wheelchairs
  • Providing bracing to stand, walk and sit down
  • Helping with chores, such as laundry
  • Taking off shoes and socks

Once matched, Patriot PAWS continues its work with matched veterans and dogs as they learn to work together as a team. Learn more about this great organization.

We're honored to be supporting this organization as they help provide much needed services for U.S. veterans.

In addition to giving back 10 cents of every shirt sold on InkToThePeople.com during the month of November, we've also designed a limited edition t-shirt that will further support their mission. For every shirt sold of the "Patriot Paws" t-shirt designs, we'll be donating 1/3 of the price. Get yours before they're gone - sale ends 11/30/14!
